I make podcasts from start to finish: Develop, staff, produce, report, edit and sound design.

Chapo: Kingpin on Trial / El Chapo: El Jefe y su Juicio

Reported from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border, in English and Spanish, the series release is timed to coincide with the Sinaloa cartel leader Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán’s federal trial in Brooklyn. This narrative podcast based on original reporting takes a critical look at Chapo’s rise and the people caught up in the U.S.-Mexican drug war.

For this, the first foray into narrative podcasting by VICE News, I built the team, field reported, edited and scored the show.

The series ranked on the Top 100 Podcasts on iTunes and Spotify. Nominated for two Webby Awards including Best Mini Series.

King’s Last March

Released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination, this series was based on an existing audio documentary featuring exclusive interviews with some of Dr. King’s closest colleagues. I re-cut the original documentary, wrote and produced an additional chapter, and produced three additional interview-based episodes to reflect on the half century since his murder.
